INDOOR AIR QUALITY & VIRAL PARTICLES

COVID-19 Can Spread Through the Air Inside Your Home

COVID-19 is primarily spread through respiratory droplets and airborne particles. In enclosed spaces, those particles can remain in the air and move through shared rooms, especially when ventilation and filtration are poor.

Airborne Particles

Respiratory particles can linger in indoor air after coughing, sneezing, talking, or breathing

Shared Indoor Spaces

Poor ventilation can allow particles to build up in rooms where people gather

HVAC Circulation

Air moving through the home can carry dust, allergens, and airborne contaminants

Respiratory Health Concern

COVID-19 can cause serious illness, especially for higher-risk individuals

Improve Indoor Air Quality
And Reduce Airborne Contaminants

COVID-19 is most commonly associated with exposure to respiratory particles released when an infected person breathes, talks, coughs, or sneezes. Indoors, those particles can become more concentrated when fresh air and filtration are limited.

While no air system can guarantee protection from illness, improving indoor air quality can help reduce airborne contaminants and create a healthier home environment.

Green Home Air helps homeowners address indoor air quality concerns connected to dust, allergens, microbial buildup, and airborne particles that may circulate through the home.

A cleaner HVAC system, better filtration, and improved air movement can support a healthier indoor environment for your family.

Important Safety Note:

  • Improve ventilation when possible
  • Use quality HVAC filtration
  • Replace dirty filters regularly
  • Keep indoor air moving and filtered
  • Clean high-touch areas as needed

Why Act Now

COVID-19 Can Spread Through Indoor Air.

COVID-19 spreads when an infected person releases respiratory droplets and small airborne particles while breathing, talking, coughing, or sneezing. In enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, those particles can build up and increase exposure risk indoors.

Dave has been super awesome with getting our home clear of mold, we had to call him multiple times since there was more and more mold that we found, he was understanding and made it quick and easy for us to have him come and get rid of the mold. I can’t say thanks enough.

I am very appreciative of Dave's prompt service, not only to analyze and clean ducts and vents with at least 20 years of dust buildup, but also to provide immediate mold remediation upon the discovery of water damage underneath our washer and dryer!

Dave was very friendly and helpful. He was very honest and upfront. They are competitively priced and quick. He was able to test my house within a couple of days. The lab results take 5 days, but that's out of their hands. They can order a rush to have the lab grow the results a little faster if needed. He did a great job cleaning my ventilation system which was important since I have bird fancier's lung.

I'm not sure why all the reviews are bad because we had an awesome experience they removed, treated and sealed so much mold and cleaned our very dirty air ducts they were also extremely polite. Good people. The smell from the disinfectant does last longer then they say though, would keep that in mind. We stayed outside for awhile but the benefit of it outweighed the inconvenience

COVID Decontamination in Lehi

The Lehi Picture

Lehi's Silicon Slopes corridor concentrates a great many people into shared office space, and the city's schools and childcare facilities have grown alongside it. When a case moves through one of those environments, decontamination is as much about getting people back in the building with confidence as it is about surfaces.

Lehi's commercial profile shapes the work we do here. The Silicon Slopes corridor concentrates large numbers of employees into shared office environments, with open floor plans, hot-desking, conference rooms, and common kitchens, so a single case touches a lot of shared surface. Employers generally want two things: the space treated properly, and something concrete they can communicate to staff before people return.

Lehi's schools and childcare facilities have expanded rapidly with the population and present much the same situation. We schedule after hours and on weekends so a floor is ready for the next working day.

A practical approach for Lehi buildings

Most COVID decontamination calls we get now are routine. A business wants a deep clean after several staff members were sick. A family is preparing a home for a newborn or for a relative coming home from the hospital. A property manager is turning over a unit after a tenant was ill. None of these are emergencies, and we treat them as practical cleaning jobs.

Lehi's population has grown from about 19,000 in 2000 to more than 90,000 today. That growth brought a lot of shared space: offices, clinics, churches, gyms, and venues. Thanksgiving Point alone draws about 1.45 million visitors a year. Places that see heavy foot traffic have more high-touch surfaces to cover.

Following CDC guidance

The CDC's guidance for community settings is clear about the order of work. Clean first, because dirt keeps disinfectants from working. Then disinfect with an EPA-registered product suited to the germ and the surface, and keep the surface wet for the full contact time on the label.

The CDC also says fogging and wide-area electrostatic spraying shouldn't be the primary method unless the product label allows it. We use electrostatic sprayers only with disinfectants labeled for that use, and only after surfaces are cleaned. The sprayer helps us cover chair backs, railings, and equipment evenly. It doesn't replace wiping.

In homes, the work is smaller and more focused. We concentrate on the kitchen, bathrooms, bedside tables, remotes, and the rooms the sick person used most. For a household with an infant, an older adult, or someone with a weakened immune system, we can schedule the work so the family is out during application and ventilation.

What we focus on

  • Door handles, rails, counters, elevator buttons, and light switches
  • Shared desks, conference tables, and break room equipment
  • Restrooms and changing areas
  • Ventilation during and after the work, with doors open or the HVAC set to bring in more air

We'll tell you how long before the space can be used again based on the product label. We don't claim a space is virus-free afterward, and we'd suggest you don't either. What we can say is what was cleaned, what was used, and when.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you decontaminate an open-plan office in the Silicon Slopes corridor?

Yes, and open-plan space is much of what we treat in Lehi. Shared workstations, hot-desking, conference rooms, kitchens, and common areas mean a single case touches a wide range of surfaces, so we work through the high-touch points systematically across the floor rather than treating one area. Work is scheduled after hours or on weekends so the space is ready for the next business day.

What can we tell our staff or parents afterward?

You get documentation of the areas treated, the date, and the products used, and most Lehi employers and schools pass exactly that along. In our experience the communication matters nearly as much as the treatment, because people returning to a shared office or classroom want to know specifically what was done rather than a general reassurance. The documentation is written to be shared.

What affects the cost of COVID decontamination in Lehi?

Square footage and the number of high-touch surfaces matter most. A small home is very different from an open office, a church building, or a gym with equipment. Furniture density, after-hours scheduling, and whether surfaces need a full cleaning before disinfection also affect the scope. We'll walk through the space or review a floor plan before quoting.

When do Lehi schools and businesses usually schedule disinfection?

Common times are over winter break, spring break, and the weeks before school starts in August, when buildings are empty. Alpine School District runs two high schools, three junior high or middle schools, and ten elementary schools in Lehi, and private schools and childcare centers follow similar calendars. Businesses often book after a cluster of sick staff, usually during cold and flu season.

Will insurance pay for COVID decontamination in Utah?

Coverage varies widely. Many commercial and homeowners policies exclude losses from viruses or communicable disease, and routine cleaning is generally treated as an operating cost. Some business policies have specific provisions. Read your policy and check with your agent or broker. We provide a written record of the service, the areas treated, and the products used.

Can you disinfect a Lehi home before a medically fragile family member comes home?

Yes. We clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, bathrooms, and the kitchen using EPA-registered products and follow label contact times. We also ventilate during and after the work. Disinfection lowers germs on surfaces at the time it's done. It won't protect against what comes in later, so ongoing handwashing and routine cleaning still matter.

Can you disinfect an event venue or attraction space in Lehi between groups?

We can work around event schedules, including early mornings and evenings. For museums, gardens, gyms, and other large Lehi spaces, we focus on the highest-touch areas first: rails, door hardware, restrooms, counters, and seating. Tell us how long the space is empty between uses.

Is electrostatic spraying enough on its own for a Lehi office?

No. The CDC says fogging and wide-area spraying shouldn't be the primary disinfection method unless the product label allows it, and surfaces should be cleaned first. We clean, then use electrostatic sprayers with products labeled for that use to reach awkward surfaces evenly. Wiping high-touch areas is still part of the job.
